What to expect in this section:
*Included connections for the 422water Filtration System can be used in over 90% of household applications. 422water cannot anticipate every location, application, materials or any pre-existing situations and cannot be responsible for additional parts that may be necessary. Proper connection should meet all local codes. If necessary, contact a qualified licensed plumber for another part or method to properly install this system or contact us for help.
Now that you have assembled the 422water filtration system we are going to connect it to your kitchen faucet.
Start by clearing up the under-sink area and find a good spot to hang the 422water filtration system. It is important to find a place that allows you the space to easily replace the filter. Use the cardboard Template to locate the perfect space.
Locate and close the cold water shut-off valve under the sink. In our example the cold water shut-off is located on the right. Keep in mind this may not be the case in your instance.
CAUTION: USE ONLY COLD WATER LINE. NOT INTENDED FOR SUPPLY BY HOT WATER.
Please make sure to locate the cold water shut-off valve and turn it off.
Open the cold water at that faucet to relieve water pressure.
Water should only come out from the faucet for a few seconds and then completely stop. If the water continues to run, check the shut-off valves and make sure they are completely off. DO NOT proceed if you know the shut-off valves are in a closed position and the water continues to flow.
CAUTION: Water will be present. Have a towel available on the floor of the cabinet below the
cold water shut-off valve and other connections to avoid any water issues or damage.
Unscrew and disconnect the supply line from the top of the cold water shut-off valve.
Check to see what size connection you have at the faucet
There are two common types of connections to the faucet (see below):
WARNING: Do not use pipe dope or teflon tape. All fittings and connections - hand tighten only.
When you feel the gasket squeeze down simply attempt another 1/4 turn only. Do not overtighten.
A - In this scenario, remove the supply line between the cold water shut-off valve and your cold water kitchen faucet supply line. If your kitchen faucet supply line connection is a 1/2” MTP, attach to it the provided Grey 1/2" FTP - 3/8" Quick Connect Adapter (10).
B - If your cold water kitchen faucet supply line connection is a 3/8" Compression, insert the provided Brass 1/2" MPT - 3/8"Compression Adapter Fitting (11) to the 3/8" Compression supply line. Then connect the Grey 1/2" FTP - 3/8" Quick Connect Adapter (10) to the Brass 1/2" MPT - 3/8"Compression Adapter Fitting (11).
Next, attach the provided White 3/8" Compression to 3/8" Quick Connect (9) to the cold water shut-off valve.
Now that everything is ready to be simply connected let's install the Filtration Assembly.
Use the Template and install the provided Long Screws (4).
CAUTION: Make sure you know the depth of the material that you are installing the screws through, to prevent the screws from being visible on the other side. Alternative solution to drilling the holes is to use a double sided tape with velcro (not included).
Using a drill bit or punch, drill or punch the starter holes as included per Template.
Set mounting screws with screwdriver (or alternative method - see warning below).
Leave a 1/4” gap between the screw head and mounting surface to allow the bracket to slide on easily. Stop driving the screw before it touches the cardboard Template or sooner depending on the depth of material you are installing the screws on.
WARNING: Alternative fastening method(s) may be required based on the materials you are working with such as plaster board, particle board and/or any similar or different materials you may encounter. The use of a different type or size of mounting screw or the need for an anchor or molly bolt may be required based on the materials or any local code you may encounter.
Now simply remove the cardboard Template and hang the Filter Assembly onto the Long Screws (4). System must be installed vertically with filter head at the top and the filter cartridge hanging down.
Insert the white tubing into the White 3/8" Compression to 3/8" Quick Connect (9) installed to your cold water supply shut-off. Allow the tubing to create a big loop with gentle curves (do not kink or crimp line). Make sure tubing has an even edge. Push the tube into fittings and completely up to the tube stop.
Repeat the same step with the blue tubing into Grey 1/2" FTP - 3/8" Quick Connect Adapter (10) installed to your kitchen faucet. Allow the tubing to create a big loop with gentle curves (do not kink or crimp line). Make sure tubing has an even edge. Push the tube into fittings and completely up to the tube stop.
To Cut or Shorten Tubing: If necessary, make sure to cut the tube square and remove burrs and sharp edges. Ensure that the outside diameter is free from score marks.
WARNING: It is preferable to leave supplied tubing intact and simply create a loop without any kinks or crimps in the tube. If not cut square, edge will have less surface area and may not be secured properly.
