Check all these components again upon installation and start-up for any hidden issues.
All plumbing should be done in accordance with all local plumbing codes.
Water Pressure: minimum 40psi, maximum 75psi. Water Temperature Range (cold supply only): not to exceed 100°F or below 40°F.
A proper installation and start-up will save you time, money and hassles, and is also required for warranty purposes. Any issue as a result of improper application, set-up, installation and/or start-up will void any warranty.
CAUTION: SYSTEM IS ONLY FOR COLD WATER LINE. NOT INTENDED FOR SUPPLY BY HOT WATER.
WARNING ABOUT PRESSURE:
Maximum pressure is 75 PSI. Pressure unregulated can surge or exceed the maximum rating on this and many items in the home. High pressure creates a water hammer or banging pipes. It’s also the reason to use stainless flexible hoses for washer machine connections and not the rubber. A pressure reducing valve (PRV) at your main water service line (if not code) is greatly recommended by many manufacturers’ of many different household items, plumbing products and appliances and must be checked annually.
Drill, drill bit or punch
Start by opening the box
Verify that all components are included with the unit and were not lost, misplaced, or damaged in shipping or handling. Any damage in shipping needs to be reported to the shipping company.
Take the time to familiarize yourself with all the parts and make sure you have all the components.
STARTING THE ASSEMBLY:
Layout all the components on your workspace
Make sure the label with FLOW direction on the filter head is visible to you
Hold filter firmly with right hand
Remove the blue cap from the top of the filter cartridge
Insert the filter into the filter head (the filter head with words FLOW will be to the right of the 422water logo)
Insert filter and push upwards
Hold the filter head firmly
Turn the filter to the right until the filter stops (See direction of LOCK on the filter label)
Filter is now locked with the 422water logo and the filter head FLOW being aligned
Before removing the white and blue vinyl plugs let's learn how the collet functions. DO NOT YANK OFF THE WHITE OR BLUE VINYL PLUGS YET
To disconnect the blue and white vinyl plugs, ensure that the system is depressurized. Push the collet square against the fitting.
With the collet held in the push position the blue and white vinyl plug can now be removed
Repeat the same steps and remove the Blue Vinyl Plug
WARNING: Never pull or “Yank” out tube
Next, insert the white (optional) 90° quick connect fitting into the left side of the filter head. Use the optional 90° quick connect fittings as needed to allow the tubing to create a big loop with gentle curves (without kinks or crimp lines).
Push the 90° quick connect fitting until it completely stops. Give a gentle "tug" on the fitting to check that it is secure.
Repeat the same step but this time with the grey 90° quick connect fitting on the right side of the filter head
Insert the white tubing into the left white 90° quick connect fitting
Push up the tube into the fitting completely until the tube stops
Give a gentle "tug" or pull on the tube to check that it is secure
Follow the same connection steps with the Blue tube on the right side
To Cut or Shorten Tubing:
If necessary, make sure to cut the tube square and remove burrs and sharp edges. Ensure that the outside diameter is free from score marks.
WARNING: It is preferable to leave supplied tubing intact and simply create a loop without any kinks or crimps in the tube. If not cut square, edge will have less surface area and may not be secured properly. For soft or thin-walled plastic tubing, the use of a tube insert is recommended. ONLY use supplied tubing by 422water.
Now, stand the Filter Assembly in an upright position with the word FLOW facing you.
Install and secure the hanging bracket with the 4 short screws using a Philips screwdriver as shown below
Next, cut away the template for the long screws location from the box lid
Make sure to have the Template handy for the next step
Now that you have assembled the filtration system and you have the template handy let's move to the installation area:
Connecting the filtration system directly to the kitchen faucet
